Peer Review Process

Manuscripts submitted to Al-Badi’ Journal will undergo a selection and evaluation process by the Board of Editors to ensure their compliance with the journal’s writing guidelines, focus, and scope, as well as to ensure high academic quality. The manuscripts are reviewed using the double-blind peer review method, in which the identities of authors and reviewers are not disclosed to each other.

Desk Review

At the desk review stage, manuscripts are examined to ensure that they meet the writing guidelines, focus, and scope of the journal, and demonstrate good academic quality. If a manuscript does not meet these requirements, the author will be given an opportunity to revise the manuscript in accordance with the specified criteria. However, the manuscript may also be rejected at this stage.

Peer Review

Once a manuscript has successfully passed the desk review stage, it will be sent to one or two reviewers who have expertise relevant to the manuscript’s field of study. The peer review process is conducted within two to four weeks. Manuscripts that do not pass the desk review stage will not proceed to this stage.

Reviewer Decision

Reviewers will provide one of the following recommendations:

  • Accepted: the manuscript is suitable for publication;
  • Accepted with minor revisions: the manuscript is suitable for publication after minor revisions in response to the reviewers’ comments;
  • Accepted with major revisions: the manuscript requires substantial revisions, such as improvements in data analysis, the main theoretical framework, or the rewriting of certain sections;
  • Rejected: the manuscript is not suitable for publication or the review identifies fundamental issues.

The reviewers’ recommendations will be considered by the Board of Editors to determine the subsequent stage of the manuscript management process.

Revision Stage

If a manuscript is accepted with minor or major revisions, it will be returned to the author along with a summary of the review results.

  • For major revisions, authors are given a maximum of four weeks to complete the revisions.
  • For minor revisions, authors are given a maximum of two weeks.

Final Decision

At this stage, the manuscript will be re-evaluated by the Board of Editors to ensure that the author has adequately addressed all reviewers’ comments. At this final decision stage, the manuscript may still be rejected if the revisions are not carried out seriously and sufficiently.

Proofreading

Once the manuscript has been deemed acceptable for publication by the Board of Editors, it will undergo a proofreading process to ensure linguistic quality.

Publication Confirmation

At this stage, the final layout of the manuscript will be sent back to the author to ensure that the content is consistent with the author’s original submission. The author may correct any typographical errors found in the final manuscript. After the author’s confirmation, the Editorial Secretary will process the manuscript for online publication on the journal’s website.
