Author Guidelines

General Guidelines for Writers

  1. Softcopy articles are written in MS Word format, Times New Roman 11 font.
  2. The length of the article is between 10-25 single-spaced quarto pages, around 4,000 – 8,000 words, written in Indonesian, English or Arabic.
  3. Title: The title must be short, clear and informative, but not exceed 20 words. Must be on target with the problem being discussed. The article title does not contain any unusual abbreviations. The main idea must be written first, then the explanation.
  4. Name of author and institution The name of the author must be accompanied by the author's institution, institutional address, and email address, without academic title and position.
  5. Abstract Abstracts are written in Indonesian and English. The abstract is written in one paragraph consisting of background, objectives, research methods, results, conclusions and keywords (3-5 phrases)
  6. Articles are written in footnote form. Author, Title, Place of Publisher: Name of Publisher, Year.
  7. If the same source is cited again, include the author’s name and page number; if separated by another citation, add a shortened title. Do not use Op.Cit. or Loc.Cit.

Madrasah Author Guidelines: Journal of Madrasah Education

This journal invites scholars and experts working in the field of Islamic studies.

  1. Articles must be original, based on research, unpublished, and not under review for possible publication in another journal.
  2. The manuscript is typed in MS Document format, single-spaced on A4 paper, 10 to 25 pages, or around 4,000-8,000 words.
  3. Article titles should be written in no more than 20 words.
  4. All submissions must include a 150 - 250 word abstract and 3-5 keywords.
  5. The full name of the author must be included, along with the institution and email address.
  6. Articles are typed in footnotes with Chicago Manual Style.
  7. The article section consists of: (1) INTRODUCTION, (2) METHODOLOGY, (3) RESULTS AND DISCUSSION, (4) CONCLUSION (5) BIBLIOGRAPHY.
  8. References should be included in footnotes and the reference list following the Chicago Manual of Style (CMS) format. When a source is cited for the first time, provide complete information: the author’s full name, the title of the source (in italics), place of publication, publisher’s name, and the cited page number. If the same source is cited again, include the author’s name and page number; if separated by another citation, add the author’s name, title, and page number. Do not use Op.Cit. or Loc.Cit.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is 1.5-spaced; uses a 11-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Open access articles in Madrasah : Madrasah Education Journal are published under a Creative Commons license. It provides an industry-standard framework to support the ease of reuse of open access materials. Under the Creative Commons license, authors retain copyright to their articles.

Madrasah Education Journal articles are published open access under the CC BY license (Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license). The CC BY license is the most open license available and is considered the industry 'gold standard' for open access; this is also favored by many funders. This license permits readers to copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format, and to modify, modify, or expand upon the material, including for commercial use, provided the original author is credited.

In this license, the author retains copyright and grants the journal first publication rights with the work simultaneously licensed under Attribution 4.0 International (CC-BY 4.0) allowing others to share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format and adapt — remix, change, and develop material for any purpose, even commercially with acknowledgment of authorship of the work and initial publication in this journal.
