Author Guidelines
General Guidelines for Writers
Submission Format: Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word format (.docx) or .rtf files.
Language: Manuscripts may be written in Indonesian, English, or Arabic.
Language Writing Format: For manuscripts in Indonesian or English, use Times New Roman font, size 11, with 1.5 line spacing. For manuscripts in Arabic, use Amiri Quran font, size 12, with 1.15 line spacing.
Paper Size: A4 (210 mm × 297 mm) with margins of top: 2.5 cm, left: 2.5 cm, bottom: 3 cm, and right: 2.5 cm.
Manuscript Length: The manuscript should be 10–20 pages long or approximately 4,000–8,000 words.
Writing Structure: The use of subheadings, bullet points, or numbering is not recommended. The entire manuscript should be written in coherent and integrated paragraphs to ensure a smooth and easy-to-follow flow of discussion.
Figures and Tables: Figures should be presented in line with text, with titles placed below the figures. Tables should have titles above them, a height of 0.7 cm, and the table titles in bold.
Originality: Manuscripts must be original, have not been previously published, and are not under review in any other journal.
Plagiarism: All submitted manuscripts will undergo plagiarism screening. Ensure that all external sources are properly cited and paraphrased.
Madrasah Author Guidelines
- Title is written in Times New Roman 12 pt, bold, uppercase letters, consisting of 10–20 words, clear, informative, and reflecting the focus of the madrasah field.
- Author’s Name must be accompanied by the name of the institution and email address, without including academic titles.
- Abstract is written in both Indonesian and English. It should consist of one paragraph (150–250 words) and include the research objectives, methods, findings, and keywords (3–5 words).
- Introduction contains an explanation of the context and urgency of the research in the field of education. The author explains the background of the problem, objectives, and relevance of the research to the development of knowledge and educational practice. In addition, the introduction should also demonstrate the novelty of the research, the gap in previous studies, and the contribution of the research to the advancement of scientific knowledge.
- Method is the section that systematically details the procedures used in conducting the research. The purpose of this section is to provide readers with a clear and detailed description of the steps taken by the researcher to collect data, analyze it, and draw conclusions.
- Results and Discussion present the main findings of the research along with their interpretations. The results are displayed systematically in the form of tables, graphs, or descriptive explanations that are easy to understand. The discussion interprets the findings by linking them to existing theories and previous research, highlighting the implications, relevance, and limitations of the study. This section demonstrates the contribution of the research to the development of educational science.
- Conclusion provides a summary of the main research findings and presents the final interpretation and implications of the results. The main function of this section is to conclude the article by providing a clear overview of the significance of the findings and their contribution to further understanding in the field of educational science.
- References All references cited in the article must be listed in the reference section. The references used should consist of at least 15 sources (13 journal articles and 2 books) and be primary references published within the last 10 years.
- Reference and Footnote Writing References should be managed using Zotero with the Chicago Manual of Style 17th Edition (Full Note/Footnote) format. References are included in both footnotes and the bibliography according to CMS formatting. The first citation should include complete information (author’s name, italicized title, place of publication, publisher, and page number), while subsequent citations only include the author’s name and page number. If separated by another source, include a short title and page number. The terms Op.Cit. and Loc.Cit. should not be used.
Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
- The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
- The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
- Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
- The text is 1.5-spaced; uses a 11-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
- The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
- If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Open access articles in Madrasah : Madrasah Education Journal are published under a Creative Commons license. It provides an industry-standard framework to support the ease of reuse of open access materials. Under the Creative Commons license, authors retain copyright to their articles.
Madrasah Education Journal articles are published open access under the CC BY license (Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license). The CC BY license is the most open license available and is considered the industry 'gold standard' for open access; this is also favored by many funders.
